Afternoon Among Edelweiss

For the past 5 years we have taken a family day trip to Leavenworth bavarian village in the fall! We spend the day window shopping, enjoying the breathtaking views & beautifully decorated storefront scenery. The kids always like to go into this one particular toy shop that is PACKED TO THE BRIM with all sorts of fun gadgets and do-dads.

But the thing Mike & I look forward to the most is perusing our favorite shop "Kris Kringle" for a couple special additions to our Christmas ornament collection. We are pretty picky because at Christmas our house has always had a specific theme-candy cane red & white with Grinch green! We found 2 ornaments that we thought were pretty spectacular! The kids had a great time looking at all the Ho Ho's (santas) and brightly colored lights which packed every wall of the store. Bryce could be heard yelling "SAATA" at the top of his lungs as he toddled around-which had people giggling, and Emma was completely awestruck by all the glitter and glam.

What we always find fun is that many people bring their dogs (of all kinds & sizes) downtown. There are buckets of water outside many storefronts that say "for DOGS only-NO CATS!"-which in itself is pretty funny! (We aren't cat people). Bryce would get so excited every time he saw yet another "puppy" and asked to pet EVERY ONE!

Today was Octoberfest, making it particularly crowded in the village. We weren't willing to wait for over an hour in line to eat at our favorite "Gustav's" restaurant for Fish & Chips-so we headed to Wenatchee and took the kiddos to Red Robin. They were troopers all day, especially when we hit Costco after lunch. Emma found a pony that she immediately fell IN LOVE with! She sat on it and said "Momma take my picture please....CHEEEEEEESE!" So I did. I think she'll be asking Santa for this one!

She has also spent the entire day referring to me as "Kristi" (because that's what she's heard her friends call me) and it irritates me to no end. Hopefully that novelty wears off soon! All in all, it was a terrific day spent with those I love the most.
