Pottery Barn???

All of my friends love my new wall art and keep asking where I got it. Pottery Barn is the most common thought. Sorry people. This is one of a kind Subway art-made for me by Mike's mom! I love being the recipient of her creativity! It's pretty much the best. I absolutely ADORE this sign. The colors, the style, the fonts....everything about it. All the words are from places Mom & I went on our Road Trip adventure through SoCal this summer! Super great memories, and now I get to be reminded of them daily-seeing as this is the new piece of decor on my bedroom wall! Hugs to Chris for such a thoughtful & spontaneous gift.

Getting Ready

Man oh man-this is a lot more work than it seems! My preschoolers are in the rodeo parade this year (which is next saturday!) and so we have been feverishly working on handouts, giveaways, advertising, flag fundraiser kits & of course the main part-THE FLOAT! Thank goodness for Mike, Courtney & Adrienne for all their help & support!
Here's a sneak peek at what we've got goin' on around here these days:
Tabby & Em work on the bubbles give-away

 mini waters giveaway

sheriff woody helps pull off all the bottle labels, so we can replace them with cute ones...

the kids help paint some of the float decor....

how it looked when I gave up for the night...back to it tomorrow...

my hard working husband putting together the flag fundraiser kits...

the end product! Only 35 more to go...
Now just keeping our fingers crossed that it all works out when all is said & done! We could use a few more butts in the seats at school. Making $3 an hour when you have a Master's Degree=not exactly my cup of tea...or a cause for happiness in my bank account either! :)

Kiddies in the Corn

It's finally that time of year-we've been waiting all summer for it....time for U Pick Corn! Yum-Yum-YUMMO! As you can see-my kids are HUGE fans of sweet corn. As we expected, they were super excited and walked around the fields eating more than they harvested! Luckily Dad was all about the picking. A dozen ears of corn & 2 dollars later-we were headed home for dinner. I love local produce!
The owner picked a cob for each of the kids-he told them the yellow corn was their dinner and they could have the bi-color (sweet corn) for dessert! They were all about it! ha ha ha
Bryce saying "Right on Dude"!
Nothing says fall is almost here- more than harvesting corn! Bring on my favorite season! Woooo Hoooooo!!!!

Wee Scientists!

Today the kids decided they wanted to be Doctors. So they each put on a white shirt (pretending they were lab coats), and I pulled out the kid sized test tube & erlenmeyer flask set! Filled a few containers with colored water and the kids went to town: mixing, measuring, pouring and spilling to their hearts content! Funny how something so simple can keep them entertained for hours. They claimed they were making potions & medicines.....sounds great to me! I was able to do the dishes & shower uninterrupted...Pure Bliss.
That's typical Bryce for ya.... :)

Weekend Getaway

Celebrating the actual day of our wedding anniversary was pretty lame this year. There was no one around to babysit the kids, so we grabbed some Japanese food & headed to McD's with the kids. At least that way we could talk un-interupted while the kids played....on our anniversary! Crazy I know. Trust me, we're putting that memory down in the book for certain! So the next day, needless to say-we were quite depressed. Luckily the kids' Aunt Michelle & cousins were more than happy to have them over to play-so we headed to the Westside for a mini-getaway!
Michelle & the girls were FANTASTIC with the kids-we dropped them off and they never looked back!  I rarely see them do that.
First stop-JJ's for lunch! Yum-Yum-Yum!
Of course, we had to get the kids a cookie from Sluys to take back with us. Next stop: Port Gamble-where we got married 6 years ago :) It was so great to walk around the town, watch people having wedding receptions & decorating the church for an upcoming ceremony. Brought back so many great memories for us. It was crazy to see how "booming" the town was now. Packed with people, but still as gorgeous as ever. :)
We reminisced how funny it was that the location we chose for our wedding back then, was completely perfect for us & our "style"-even still and wouldn't change a thing. We even bought a house built in the same era as the ones out there...
I'm lucky that Mike enjoys walking through antique stores with me and gets the same kick out of neat vintage odds & ends. So fun!
After our look-about Port Gamble, we went back to check on the kids and relieve the cousins from "kid duty" but Em & Bryce were totally bummed when we showed up and pretty much begged us to leave! Aunt Michelle had them doing play-doh, bubbles, making cookies, took them on trips to the park & lunch at the mall, etc. Duh they didn't want anything to do with boring Mom & Dad! :) So we left them there and went back to the house & grabbed the puppies for a stroll along the Bremerton boardwalk.

It was a great day and I am so grateful that family came to our rescue & pulled our anniversary out of the "slums" of depression! :) Hugs to Aunt Michelle & the girls for being so great to us & the kids!
