Family Fort Night

A blessing of summer=SLEEPING IN! Including Dadda who doesn't have to set an alarm in order to get anywhere on time. Since this is the case, we told the kids we could build a fort in the classroom & watch movies on the wall. We typically watch weekly movies in the backyard in the summer, but it is still too cold at night, so this was Option B!
First Step:
Dad helped the kids make Chex Mix. This is SUCH a Martone thing :) It's no exception for these 2 Martone's either! They are young & already addicted to some homemade Chex Mix! Of course, once dad mentions "cooking" of any sort, these to book it like lightning to put on their "Chefs" :)

the seasonings....mmmmmmmm-smells nummy

How do you like the multi colored kitchen??? Sweet huh? Still not done with that project. It's #147 on the list :)

HIGH FIVE! We did it!
 Step 2:
Em & Mom built the fort....we were going to do it the old fashioned way-you know, dining room chairs, blankets, etc....but the awning was already set up in the backyard from a function we had recently so I thought that looked easier. I WAS RIGHT! lol Em was ever so excited to go inside & collect up EVERY blanket we own & bring them out for the cause.

Step 3:
The movie set up...thank you Dadda! We used our outdoor movie screen for the 4th wall of the fort-worked out AMAZINGLY well. That thing is HUGE!

We had Grandma & Papa's Aerobed here, so that made it even better....no sleeping on the floor. This was the first time we've used it-pretty awesome little contraption!

MOVIE TIME!
 Step 4:
Don't forget the snacks!

(*NOTE-I have since given away all the christmas jams-this stinker lives for long sleeves & pants-even in the middle of the summer and is QUITE ticked at me for their recent disappearance. Sorry dude. It HAD to be done.)
Hooray for Family Nights!

Catchup & Mustard?

Wow-I've been M.I.A. for a while, but we are back! Here's some eye candy for the grandparents-I'll get to journaling about it later  (a 12 hour drive with 2 kids can really wear you out!).
Bryce went to his first Dentist visit...

and EmmaLee found a new love at Fred Meyer....NO-I'm not kidding! Did I blink while she became a pre-teen????
Em had a girls day with Auntie Shannon and Momma....Shannon bought her a Strawberry Shortcake set of 17 lipglosses & matching nail polishes. Needless to say, she came home & couldn't WAIT to set it all up on her Rapunzel vanity & put it all on her brother...sadly-he was a willing participant!

"Make a Lantern" Playdate

I love that it is summer. It means all our friends have time to come play! So today we had Ayden, Marissa & Sienna over to make patio lanterns with us (and for those who noticed-YES we are already off of our schedule...whatever-that's how I roll in the summer, just go with it :).
A warm day, Dollar Store vases, watered down school glue & some tissue paper squares from the craft box. Good times. Oh, and I guess I did sugar them up with some Pepsi too. lol.
Yes, I give kids pop.

These things will look so cute with votives inside. I can just picture it now....

Preschool Graduation 2011

Em graduated from Preschool this past Wednesday-by that I mean she was promoted from little kid to BIG KID status (she still has one more year-but won't go to school at Karen's this time...she'll remain a Stepping Stones Kid). She was cute as a button! I am going to post the video of her singing the "Guys & Dolls" song from our program, it kills me!
Emee's greatest accomplishment this past year was learning to read. She LOVES to read to anyone who will listen, and sometimes when people won't (shhhhh.....we all lead busy lives), she reads to her dolls. :)

Like all the other kids, she was presented her academic portfolio which contains her assessments for the year-like alphabet letter/sound recognition, math abilities to date, name writing improvements from day 1 to the last week of school, handwriting workbook, etc. She loves to look at it & show everyone her accomplishments.

never mind the buzillion chins I have-not that they don't exist, but my husband has since learned that his camera angle was NOT a flattering one :) lol
Being turned into a "big kid" with Momma's magic wand! She was wiggling with delight in her seat-making everyone in attendance chuckle. Like I always say-it's the little things in life....

that is one happy preschooler! Excuse me-BIG KID!
watching the DVD yearbook. It was hot & muggy on Wednesday....booooo. Wearing my cap & gown didn't make it any cooler-especially with my stupid masters hood hanging from my neck. I was sweating like a sinner in church! :)
 EmmaLee's first year preschool portfolio:

Here are some more of her school photos from this year. Can't believe how much she has grown up since last years picts! :(
(she chose to wear this because it is her favorite new Gymboree "MAMMA MIA" outfit! HA HA HA) In her defense, the line is named "Greek Isle"!

Kirsten & Auntie Shannon came to sit in the audience & support Em as her "family". She was quite excited about that. They love her to pieces. Next year Kirsten graduates high school! That is just NUTS! Congrats Em on a job well done this year! Bryce is pretty excited to be a full fledged Preschooler next year too! Lord knows he needs it.
