Berry Pickin'

In honor of this weekend-we decided to spend time as a family doing an "all american" activity. We're gonna bake pies. However, in order to do that-we needed some fruit to fill them with. So with that in mind we headed out to pick some fresh Strawberries and Raspberries!
The kids had the TIME OF THEIR LIVES! My kids LOVE to be outdoors, but this was over the top for them! Strawberries are Bryce's favorite snack.
It was so cute to watch him run through the fields of strawberries with his vintage wooden basket. At one point I turned around to see him sitting in the middle of a patch, just pickin' those berries and munching away. Not a berry in the container. He must have thought he was in heaven! Too cute.
Emma couldn't believe we were finding these berries out in the middle of "nowhere" instead of at a store.
Each time she'd see one, she'd point to it and ask "Mom-is this one ok to put in my bucket?" After explaining numerous times that it was more than ok-she got the hang of it. lol. THAT is exactly what I love most about this trip-such a great learning experience at a young age. I'm sure this is a trip they won't forget.
Mike was M.I.A for most of the trip-I think he was even more excited than the kids! He grabbed a basket and was OFF-fresh Raspberries are his favorite and he was going to make sure his basket was overflowing before we left!
Not one complaint from either of the kids-no fighting, no fussing. Just silence and lots of smiles. There was a moment in the Raspberry rows, that Mr. B decided he would explore on his "own". We poked our heads over one of the bushes and spotted him a little ways down the row-UNDRESSING! Yep-you heard me! shoes=OFF, shorts=OFF, diaper=OFF. But wait-it gets better...just at that moment, he bends his back and starts to pee pee on those lovely Raspberry bushes! No joke-now you'll never forget to wash your produce will ya?! :)
Berry picking is a FANTASTIC family outing-and one we will be doing again very soon! It was definitely a good morning.
