Martone's Annual Harvest Fest 2012

The plan for harvest fest was to do some outdoor glow in the dark bowling, roast hotdogs & smores, outdoor straw candy hunt, then sit and gab around the firepit....
well-those plans came to a screaching fault when it decided to DOWNPOUR all day the day on into  and the day of! BOOOOOOO!
So here is what Plan B looked like:
the kids ran to their dress up trunks and came out with what they wanted to wear to the party. Too cute! Bryce was over the top excited to get a green face for the occasion.
We still did the chili potluck & it was scrumptious, but the activities changed somewhat.

All activities took place in the classroom. The kids played for a bit, watched some Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown, bobbed for mini apples, which they in turn created their own caramel apples with, and had the traditional straw candy hunt. My friends are great sports. NONE of them cared that it was raining. We all sent the munchkins out there & follwed right behind them with our cameras!

Emily stuck each apple with small branches from the backyard for handles-which turned out too cute!

Even baby Oneil got in on the action!

Mike's mom's caramel recipe was RAVED about! We adults sat around the pot with spoons after all the kids had finished making/devouring their apple creations!
Rachel kept claiming she wanted to drink it because it was so good :) It really is people.

A FREE Krispie Kreme voucher!!!!!

That is one full bag of goodness!

At the end of it all-my dear friends had scrubbed my kitchen & put away all the mess in the classroom. And all I had to do was sit down and munch this yummy toffee covered caramel apple that my sweet son made for me. Life is good. So are our friends.
