Birthday Festivities

Digital Scrapbooking at WiddlyTinks.com
My baby girl turned 3 today! Wowzers...where did the time go? This is the first year she actually realized it was her birthday on the actual day. The first sign was when she got to go to the store to pick out a gift from Auntie Hollie-she chose The Princess & The Frog soundtrack (she's really been into music lately) and a bubble machine! As soon as we got in the truck and I popped in the CD she squealed "Ohhhhh, Happy Birthday to ME!" I made her a Tinkerbell doll cake with one of her Tink barbies, which turned out much better than I expected too! The last time (and only time) I made a cake was back in High School for Katie Tertocha's 2nd or 3rd birthday! Ummmm....yeah....that was a LOOOOONG time ago! Anyhow-I am pleased with the results and so was Em. She sat next to me the whole time and watched in amazement. She kept patting my arm and smiling at me. Then when it was complete she looked at me and sighed...."Oh wow Mom-I LOVE it!" What a sweet little peach. So needless to say, mission accomplished-the cake made her day and that's all that mattered. Last night Auntie Shannon took Em out to dinner and to Fred Meyer to pick out a gift and she got herself an Ariel barbie that lights up! She was super excited when she came home to show us all!

Nana sent a box FULL of The Princess & the Frog stuff she found at the Disney Store (oh how I LOVE that place and thank goodness we DO NOT have one closer!). We set the items out on the table and let her open them first thing this morning. Emma fell in love with these figurines that Maddy got for christmas, and now she had a set of her own! She could hardly breathe when she saw them inside the box...gasping she said "LOOK MOM! Just like Maddy's!" There was also a plate, cup and bowl, fuzzy slipper/high heel dress up shoes and nightgown! She was thrilled about all of it and has played with those darn figurines all day!
For preschool EmmaLee took in Princess Tiana cookies and juice boxes. The kids thought it was pretty cool to eat sugar paper with Princess & The Frog on it! The kids sang Happy Birthday to her, she got a birthday crown and was able to choose a treat from the birthday box of treasures!
I can't tell you how many times I've caught her today, taking the Tinkerbell cake out of the refrigerator (thank heaven she never dropped it), and placed it on the dining room table with all her new figurines....it's like she needed to have all her favorite things in-front of her so she could just stare at them! She never tried to touch the frosting, she just wanted to admire that cake for as long as possible (until I caught her each time-sneaky bugger!)
The Tinkerbell cake was finally able to be devoured tonight when we went out to dinner as a family. Em picked the place-lucky us-McDonald's was the choice!
(taking a picture of her cake with my keychain "camera")
(mmmmmmm....ketchup! That's a Martone for ya! :)
Grandpa & Grammie sent Em this WAY fantastic Talking Tinkerbell Cafe (and a tink dress up outfit, wand & shoes-that are still on their way, as well as  Peter Pan outfit for Bryce!) Maddy got one of these contraptions for Christmas and Emma thought it was the best thing ever! It came late in the afternoon, so I set it up (it had 1 million pieces) and she was shocked when she walked into the room and saw it! She ran up to it and said "Oh, my birthday party!" Ummmmm......ok? See knew exactly what to do and started brewing us all some tea and baking us some cinnamon rolls! This little cafe even has bubbling sounds and the teapot whistles when it is "ready"! The unit has since taken up residence in the playhouse under her bed, so she plays with it at all hours of the night....lucky us! Oh well-it's her birthday and she couldn't be more excited! Thanks to everyone who called & sang to her (or WITH her-lol) and sent such generous things to help make this a magical day for her!

  1. What fun!! The cake looks great. Amie told me about the cookies, sorry she was little Ms. Crabby. I think she is acting up for attention since everything has been about Aubree. Hopefully things go back to normal. Thanks for letting her stay and play she had so much fun with Emee.
