Visiting the North Pole

My preschool field trip for December was to ride "The Polar Express" santa train in North Bend. So we packed up the kids early yesterday morning and made a day of it! Brinkley came with us because we wanted to keep an eye on her leg with stitches, and the kids LOVED having her snuggle with them in the backseat.

Our train wasn't to depart until 3pm, so we continued West to Issaquah planning on fresh donuts for breakfast at Krispy Kreme's (Em & Bryce thought they had died and gone to pastry heaven) and each picked out a Christmas sprinkled donut.

With full tummies, we headed to Cougar Mountian Zoo in Issaquah for the Reindeer Festival! There was to be face painting, feeding Santa's Reindeer team, storytime with Elf and trying out Santa's sleigh! All Emma really wanted to do was feed the reindeer. She was SUPER excited! She RAN the whole way through the parking lot saying "I'm coming Reindeer....yay!" It was slightly drizzling outside, but who cares right? These were really Santa's reindeer! (Did I mention they were the most spoiled, FATTEST reindeer I have ever seen? I wonder why??? Kids from around the state feeding them apple slices everyday in December....????)

(seems the "neighbor" to the reindeer is coming up with a plot as he sits there on his "perch"....wouldn't want to share a facility with my enemy, but that's just me! lol!)

We left the zoo and went to Bell Square so I could pick up a couple last minute stocking stuffers at Lakeshore and lunch at our very favorite restaurant, THE CHEESECAKE FACTORY! It was divine!
At 2:30 we met up with all our preschool friends in North Bend and embarked on our journey to the "North Pole"! You can't get anything past Emma-one blast from the train whistle in the far distance and she was about to pee her pants squealing "Here it comes, the Polar Express MOM!!!! Oh Wow! Oh Wow!" Go figure she'd be this thrilled???

I brought our family copy of "The Polar Express" for Em to read on the train and she was so pleased. She sang a song for each page she turned. It was fun to see her so filled with happiness over something so simple.

Bryce was completely content copying everything his sister did and snuggling with his all time favorite person....dadda. After a short train ride full of christmas caroling, we arrived at "The North Pole" and waited in line at the depot there to talk to Santa!

When asked what she wanted for Christmas, Em told him once again, that she wanted to ride his Polar Express! He had his Elf ring a bell and told her, "If you can hear that sound, then you can ride my train again!" She smiled and said "Ok, thank you!" It was pretty funny. Bryce on the other hand, HATED the 1.3 seconds he saw Santa! :) They were each given a toy train from Santa too.

On the way out the door from visiting with Santa, we boarded a Kitchen Car on another train. There we were given freshly baked cookies from a coal oven and hot chocolate. We chit chatted with our friends and the kids played with a train table until we heard the beloved train whistle blow again! It was time to head home. Emma shot out the door like lightning-she was ready to get on that "POLAR EXPRESS" again!

On the train trip home Santa surprised the kids by coming around to each of them and gave them a treat to enjoy and say Merry Christmas! As we unloaded from the train, Santa was there. He called Em over and told her what a sweet girl she was and gave her a big hug! She was OVER THE MOON! What a day packed to the brim with memories! We will definately have to make this a Martone Family Tradition!
