A Magical Holiday Surprise

A few nights ago, Kathleens grandma passed away. Which meant she wanted to go home & be with her family in Bremerton. Dad didn't want her to drive all that way alone, so he drove her over, dropped her off & then flew straight home. The good news for us: the drive from Utah passes right thru Eburg!!!! Dad texted me last night and asked if they could pop in. OF COURSE! Then this morning, he texted "Can we stay the night?" UM EVEN BETTER!!! We kept the whole thing a secret from the kids. Mike was in Bremerton with his family at the hospital (because of Papa's heart surgery), so it was just me & the kids.
This morning, was our North Pole breakfast. As we were cleaning up Emma exclaimed "Mom, I feel it in my bones. It is going to be a MAGICAL day!" Little did she know that there would be a holiday surprise at her door in a few hours.
When Grandpa & Grammie showed up, I let E & B answer the door. I think they were very confused. lol. But excited too! Em immediately got her "sleepover" stuff and threw it in Bryce's room-which is where she always sleeps when Grammie & Grandpa come, because that means sharing a room with her grandparents= SLUMBER PARTY TIME!
Bryce was eager to play Wii with Grandpa....who DOES NOT play the wii-EVER! lol.
Bryce was confused as to why Grandpa seemed to struggle more than HIS dad did? Aren't all grown men awesome at video games??? A strange concept for this little guy. ha ha ha.
Dad thought it was funny that Bryce would look at him and say "Ummmmm-you are NOT good at this Grandpa????"
Finally when he'd get too frustrated, he would just try to push the buttons for Grandpa. When that didn't work, he just walked over & turned off the game. :/ YIKES!  Good thing my dad didn't take it to heart. What a turd.
Em & Grammie took a turn doing ABBA Dance Party. Oh. My. Heck! SOOOOOOO funny.
Then, while Grandpa watched White Christmas & dinked around on his new smart phone, the kids & Grammie put together the Gingerbread house kit that Grandma & Papa sent last week. It turned out SUPER cute. Em could have decorated that puppy for HOURS!

We cleaned up the mess & Bryce was dying to watch his new favorite movie with Grandpa. The dog movie-HACHI. I think Dad liked it enough. :) It's actually a great flick.
The next morning, we all met Mike up at Suncadia & took the kids skating for the first time this season.

Em decided she was brave enough to try this business WITHOUT the push cart. She was awesome! SUCCESS!

Poor Bryce, his helmet too big & not as successful without the pusher. A hot mess. lol. On top of that, his skates were rubbing on his poor little calf & completely rubbed it RAW! Needless to say, he was done. Note taken for next time. Jammie bottoms UNDER the clothes. :(

Nothin a little snuggling by a fire & some hot chocky can't fix. :)

It was a GREAT weekend. The circumstances a bummer-but we are grateful for the family time nonetheless. Thanks DAD & K!
