Paradise-Hawaiian Style: Day 1

Day 1: We're here! I can't believe it! The kids did GREAT on the plane but seriously could not stand the wait for the beach! So grateful for the iPads. Serious lifesavers for a 6 hour flight-though we had to tell them to keep playing & watch more movies. I guess that could be worse. I'm glad they aren't addicted to them.

Kanani came along for the ride of course (she's FROM Hawaii you know :) You should have seen the tears the night before when we mentioned that Felicity could not come too-only ONE doll allowed. Em was so afraid that Felicity would feel sad.

View from the airplane....couldn't WAIT to get my feet in the sand! Look at that ocean! Breathtaking!
Our first stop: the exchange for cold treats, beach supplies & island wear & mumu's for the kids :)

Next: check in at the Hale Koa. (p.s. I could totally live here. The view from our room never gets old :)

Brought some really cool Macadamia Nut Hershey Kisses back as treats for friends
The kids FINALLY get to go the beach! So different from the beaches of Cali. The verdict is still out on which is better. But as we know, I am partial ;)

There were SO many stunning plants....

including my favorite: Bouganville!

Running to play on the shores of Waikiki-right outside our hotel! Such an awesome location to stay!

See how weird the sand is! It's like walking on small chunks of crushed seashells-which is actually EXACTLY what it is. Your feet just sink into the sand....

A little din din at The Old Spaghetti Factory (a first for both kids-who apparently can't get enough mizithra & brown butter :)
A fantastic first day in Paradise:Hawaiian Style!

  1. So Fun!! Thanks for posting!!! Makes me want to figure out how we can get the whole fam there together ASAP! We have a beach house in Laie and/or condos at Turtle Bay we can use. now we just need airfare for 11 people. I can't wait to take the kiddies sea turtle swimming!

  2. You DO!!!!! Ashley & I were talking tonight & thought that we would try to save up for next Feb when you all go. We were wondering about the possibility of paying for Dad to get us Military tickets for events and possibly book us a couple rooms at the Hale Koa that we could also pay for-we figured there was NO WAY we were affording it without the "military" options :)
