It's Independence Day!

Every year Em & B participate in Grandpa's ward 4th of July kiddie bike parade. This year Auntie Hollie & Auntie Ashley helped them jazz up their bikes for the festivity.

They turned out super cute. And for a whopping $2! Woo-hoo! ha ha

This years Freedom Buckets....just Target Dollar spot goodies-like every year. This year the hit was the bubble wand. Even the adults were excited over the amount of bubbles it produced. 97c who knew!

Up & ready by 7:30.....a tired little tot.

This is the last year on this bike. She is growing so fast :(

Auntie Ashley & Jordan arrived to the block party.

Crabby patty didn't want ANY part of the event this year.

Dad's brother-my Unlce Greg, is the bishop so dad of course got asked to do the Opening prayer & tribute to attending soldiers....

Then the beloved bike parade led by Cottonwood Heights finest. :)

Little man made it around the block & was super excited-UNTIL he came around the corner and saw the HUGE crowd cheering him on! That was it. DONE.

Chickadee went around 4 or 5 more times. She was LOVIN it!

Not to worry-the bike didn't go to waste :) Jordan quite enjoyed it.
As is tradition-the kids got hosed down by the Fire truck & LOVED it. Such excitement over something so simple.

Em & my cousin Jordan Allison-completely DRENCHED & happy as can be!

Look out! WET HUGS!!!!

Grumpy pants wanted to be LEFT ALONE! A fireman came over and asked if he wanted a sticker & B snapped at him. Gesh dude! Snap out of it.

There were glimmers of hope for a better attitude from him during the morning-but those moments lasted 2 point 5 seconds.

So Jordan rode B's bike home instead of B.

Back at the house with full tummies, we worked on getting ready for the evenings planned activities: Annual BBQ, fireworks & water fight!

Dad even helped me with the crafts/decoration preparations.

A little break to play GO FISH with Emee-a new game she learned on this trip!

The end product. SUPER cute Americana stars! We hung 7 of them all over the yard. They were simple & beautiful.

Once everything was laid out & ready, we went on an outing.
Last year on the 4th, we went to Military Day at the Zoo-this year we went to Miniature Golf at Mulligans. This was a first for the Martone Kids. They LOVED it!

Dadda showed them the ropes....and they were off!

high five! Em got a hole in 1!

Grandpa won overall.
Back at home, everything was looking festive-family & friends showed up...it was officially time to PAR-TAY!
I love my new Red White & Blue firework spray I found at Hobby Lobby!

I made these cute little Bald Eagles with Donut Holes & Devils food cookies. An idea I tweaked a little from Disney Family Fun.

Kathleens sister Ellen made cute Sesame Street fruit & veggie platters for the kids!
Adorable.
Pineapple Big Bird & Blueberry Cookie Monster

Broccoli Oscar & Tomato Elmo!

The kids played and played in the hot tub all night long.....until it was time for the street of pyromania!

Waiting for the show to start. Lots of Pop-its & Bubbles....

Grandpa passed the torch to Dadda & Jordan this year. So they carefully laid out their plan of attack.

These 2 became best friends. Kathleens niece Alice & Emee.

The boys did a great job and Grandpa actually got to watch the fun this year.

As always-the kids got to do a gang load of sparklers at the end while the adults cleaned up the mess in the road.

Then came mayhem.
Jordan & Mike didn't come unprepared this year-they hit up Wally World the day prior for their own arsenal. Jordan even went as far as to repaint his gun in patriotic colors and name it "The Freedom Fighter" HA HA HA

No one was safe from the attack. NO ONE. We were all dripping within 10 mins.

Another memorable "Huly" 4th (he he he) down in the books!
