Havin' A Simple Summer

This summer we aren't going to sunny SoCal....and that MAJORLY bums me out. Instead, the plan is to go down in October for our favorite time of year at Disneyland. The added bummer is that it leaves our summer WIDE OPEN. Ugh. Trying to entertain a 4 & 5 year old, on a budget, for 70+ days is not the easiest.
We've gone down to Yakima and enjoyed the old fashioned Soda Fountain there. We all shared a HUGE banana split-it was the first one the kids have ever had and they literally slurped down every last bite!

We've attended free petting zoo type events here in town

Soooooo gorss. Emma actually touched the corn snake! YUCK YUCK YUCK!

There have been sleepovers with good friends....
and trips to the Eburg Children's Museum with more friends-like student teachers from CWU at CWU Kinder Camp,

There has been ample down time too. (Just look at these 2 boys completely zoned out...)
The kids have taken turns making stuff in the kitchen.
Bryce finally got to make popsicles with the popsicle maker that Grandma sent. He chose to use his beloved "hot chocolate milk" as the liquid. It made scrumptious homemade fudgesicles in 7 mins! Amazing. He's eaten 4 since this morning.

After a walk with the dogs (in the nasty humid heat) to the farmers market this morning, everyone was panting by the time we reached home again. Em decided that it was perfect timing to make "Doggie Ice-Cream". So after brother cleaned up his kitchen mess, Em got to working on hers! Following a pinterest recipe on the trusty iPad: a little banana, honey, PB and Vanilla yogurt. Mix together, divvy out & freeze. Simple enough. The dogs LOOOOOOOVED liking to bowl & beaters. I think they'll enjoy the frozen end product too!

On the docket tmrw? A birthday party at the pool! THANK HEAVEN! :)
