For The Love of Planets

This month at preschool we studied around the theme of "The Solar System". Em was oober excited about it! She had her body traced and then cut it all out....

thus creating "Astronaut EmmaLee"-which we hung from the ceiling to simulate floating in space! Not sure what's up with the big black eye??? :)

Did a little alien math...and ate yummy treats brought by our friends-Moon Brownies & Alien Slime Jello!

I created this emergent reader for the older kids...Em is OBSESSED with it-she and Bryce quiz each other on the names of the different constellations. Great-I'm dealing with astrology geeks now...

We sang Purple People Eater & learned to act out the poem 5 Little Spacemen.

Made tangram rockets too. At the end of it all, the kids were MORE THAN READY for our monthly field trip-this time, to the Pacific Science Center's Preschool Planetarium show in Seattle!

Field trip snacks packed-ready to go
anxious kiddies...

inside the planetarium-ready for the show to start! Dr. Jeff had the kids sing "Mr. Sun" to get the sun to rise on the ceiling, and made the kids howl at the moon like a coyote & helped them see a bunny rabbit in the moon! That show never disappoints! They really know what they are doing there! Em was literally over the moon for this trip. When the constellations appeared she was squealing "PEGASUS, HERCULES, DRACO!" It was hilarious.

Look! A PLANET!!!

Discovering other parts of the center-such as a boa constrictor touch exhibit....GROSS!

Bryce was more hesitant....can't blame him.

Em thought this lady was "Mama Oddie" from The Princess & the Frog. ha ha ha

Ask me if Bryce picked up this starfish & FLUNG it back in the water? Embarrassing? YES!

We spent an eternity in the gift shop-but finally left with some Mars Mud & a new children's book about astronauts!

Another fine trip to the emerald city!
