THIS is Halloween (well-it's how WE do it!)

This year, Emma & B decided they want to be characters from one of their favorite Disney flicks....The Nightmare Before Christmas. Bryce wants to be the boogie monster-Oogie Boogie, and Em wants to be the Frankenstein patchwork doll-Sally. We ordered fabric & it arrived today! The kids are chomping at the bit to get sewing. Someone pray for me. :/

For Family Friday-we got out all the Halloween boxes to decorate the house. There are 4 boxes of stuff at this point! Last year after halloween we found a fun, small pre-lit black christmas tree on sale at Walmart. It was a MUST to add to the collection! Together with the fun tree decorating stuff we found in Leavenworth & clearance Disney store baubles....we were set!

While home in Bremerton we found some fun goodies at World Market & good ol' Target!

New Gymboree jams...they were too cute to pass up.

EmmaLee's halloween treat bag-a JACK Skelington hat, Chocolate Covered Pumpkin shaped pretzels, halloween bouncy light up ball, halloween ring pop, halloween Cadbury SCREAM egg (the inside sugary yolk is GREEN!) and mini packs of sour gummy worms.

 Bryce has the same thing in his bag except instead of a JACK hat, he got a new shirt!

Happy Month-O-Halloween!

As is our tradition-we started off Oct 1 with Halloween Nachos served in Pumpkin bowls....the kids LIVE for this day. :)

We've also been busy at school. 

There have been Wacky Wednesdays-filled with Mad Scientist creations...

and other days where we constructed Frankenstein out of only Squares and Rectangles....

It's been a crazy busy yet fun month already!

Valley of Smoke

The Table Mountain fires (from the lightning we had 2 weeks ago) are still not contained. Which means we have been inhaling smoke for 2 weeks. EmmaLee started soccer before she started school. She has had a total of 2 practices and 1 game day-all others have been cancelled due to poor air quality. When I mean poor-I mean dangerous. This morning Emma woke up all excited because it was "going to snow" outside. Ummmm-nope. That isn't cold air out there honey-that is smoke. My friend Rachel took these this MORNING. This is the sky we have been looking at & air we have been breathing day in & day out for 2 weeks. 

Scary huh?

Emma has yet to experience an outside recess at school. Mike & I have been popping Ibuprofen like it is water just to take the edge off the headaches this is causing. The house smells like a campfire & even the dogs are panting. Ugh. I know there are hundreds of firefighters working on this-one has even died. People are loosing their homes. I heard today that what we are breathing in here in Ellensburg for just one day is like living in heavy LA smog for a week! That is nuts. My throat is on fire & I haven't spent time outside in a week. The kids are still doing fine-but how long can that last? Can't take much more of this.
