Our Anniversary Adventure

Celebrando 8 años de matrimonio!
We decided on visiting a place on the historic register-the Mission Inn in Riverside, CA. I wasn't keen on the "Riverside" part, but it just looked too neat to pass up. I am pleased to say the risk taken was TOTALLY worth it! It felt like we were living on the set of "Pirates of the Caribbean....like being in one of the towns along the spanish main! If you've ever ooooh'd and ahhhhh'd over the restaurant atmosphere/ambiance at the Pirates ride at Disneyland, this was just like that-but 1 MILLION times better! Sooooooo amazing-and a prime rib dinner in one of the hotels 3 restaurants. We were seated outside near the large fountain in the Spanish courtyard to boot! It was so warm, peaceful & relaxing. We had an AMAZING time! Come to find out, there have been numerous movies filmed here too-like Man in the Iron Mask (I love that movie). Of course, with all the beauty and character that this place had to offer, there were quite a few weddings going on while we were there. It was fun to watch from the sidelines & remember our own special day. At night the place really came alive and was beautifully lit. We explored the grounds for 3 hours! For nighttime turndown, they even leave gourmet cupcakes on your pillow instead of mints! They were SUPER yummy. We picked a golden red velvet & german chocolate. In the morning we discovered a little coffee shop across the street. Mike got this fun "Birthday Cake Milkshake", which he said was "SO GOOD it was like drinking cake batter!" ha ha ha. Thanks to my mom for taking the kids out of our hair so we could enjoy our annual togetherness adventure!
