Luck O' the Martone Littles

Today was the last day of my school week-and it was also Leprechaun trap day, which meant "St. Paddy's at the Martone house" :) I wasn't about to play out having a Leprechaun visit MULTIPLE times this week-I DO NOT have the gumption.
So though it is only March 14th, the kids have NO CLUE, and I plan to keep it that way. ha ha

The traps were set out with great care...
in hopes that a wee man soon would be there! ;)

In the house there were explicit instructions whose room to hit first-

Alas they weren't fooled & instead trapped the humans....

But at least they left treasures to make up for their goofin'!

All green breakfast was on the menu-this year fruit kabobs did the trick.

At school the excitement was plenty:

Checking out tiny footprints on traps & gold freedom payments.

There were rainbow licorice necklaces to be made...

And rainbow snacks to be eaten:

Plus a scavenger hunt amidst it all too!
When the pot of gold was found-inside was the treasure!
Before we all knew it-Preschool had ended, and lunch was to start
but couldn't be found. The hunt was on-a leprechaun had pinched it, where could it be now?

Thank goodness for Emee-her peepers open wide, she couldn't be fooled,
her lunch was OUTSIDE!
A quick meal later-it was off for "School Round 2"-where Momma was teaching there this day TOO!
Emma took special treats to share with her friends at Kinder....they were a HIT-she couldn't have been prouder!
and we couldn't forget the teachers, paras, secretaries, custodian & our favorite school counselor. So they got Leprechaun Hats!

After school it was discovered there was more fun to be had:
and a rainbow prize hiding in the shed!

Now with kidlets all tucked in their beds-momma has visions of relaxing for "spring break" just ahead!
NOT!

Gettin' in an Irish Groove

Ever since March 1st, we've been in FULL "Leprechaun visit" countdown mode.
We found these fun little clover growing kits in the Target dollar section (one of my favorite holiday spots)
The kids were all so eager to get planting them in hopes that a Leprechaun would REALLY feel at home here this year!

With a little recycling-we kept this project "green" and created a terrarium for each pot of growing shamrocks! Bryce didn't care for it much, as you can see ;)
The kids have also been constructing their annual Leprechaun Traps. As always-it was Team Girls vs. Team Boys! EmmaLee had the TIME OF HER LIFE engineering blueprints of said structure beforehand. It was a school assignment for both kidlets.

Bryce could have cared less about the planning part-he just wanted in on the hands on action. Typical.

After a quick jaunt to the Dollar Tree, this chickadee had everything she needed for she & her brother to complete the task!
Let the building BEGIN!

Here's hoping we actually catch a little green guy this year!!!
