After we got home from the ward breakfast, Bryce took a little break for some puppy lovin' & Toy Story watchin'(typical Bryce)-while the rest of us showered from being so icky & sweaty. Izzy hated every moment of snuggle time-can't you tell?
Em swam & played horseshoes in the backyard...
and Grammie introduced her to "Pop-Its"!
Throw it HARD Em!
Another one please...
she thought it was great fun. She also got to see the fireworks that Grandpa was stashing away for the 4th!
Miss Gabby wants NOTHING to do with Fireworks of ANY kind....she sat at the window and cried....poor baby :(Mike relaxing & looking handsome in the process! :)
Bryce shows Dad that he knows how to play horseshoes too....from an elevated position on the picnic table! Cheater pants!
Auntie Hollie & Em listen to the ocean through Grammies collection of beautiful shells....
And we are finally ready to head to Thanksgiving Point-let's not forget to bring Justin Beiber along though! Gesh! Notice her trusty sidekick? Kills me.
Auntie Hollie let the kids pick out a treat to enjoy while we waited in line for admission...
Bryce was mesmerized by the chickens & baby chicks...
Em tries to milk an acrylic cow????
Dad and B compare their weight to that of a farm animal...interesting. I did NOT care to know what it would say if I stepped up, so I didn't volunteer myself for such knowledge :)
This was a cute station in the lobby that showed the process of where milk came from. They have an actual corral area where they bring in a cow & milk him in front of you, then you see how cream is separated, the pasturizing process, how it is divided into milk jugs and sent down the conveyer belt to the trucks! Pretty cool. Interactive & educational for the kidlets too.
They had this thing where you could pull a lever, which in turn lifted a bucket of "feed". It showed the kids how heavy it was for the farmhands when they were feeding various animals.
Em had to use all her body weight to life the cows grain....
and Bryce couldn't lift sheep food unless he was flat on his rumper bumper! Apparently I am NOT raising pioneer children by ANY means???? he he he
the facilities were wonderfully maintained....I mean look at this outdoor/indoor stable! Someone was always walking around scooping poop....it was really nice to see the animals in such well cared for conditions. After all-this IS an actual working farm.
there were sweet little ponies...
cute baby calves....
and big momma cows...
we got to touch anything we wanted!
the kids especially loved this baby cow-how could you not, she was super soft & so cute!
Look at those big eyes & the smile it put on B's face :) awwwww
looking right into each others hearts :) my little animal lover
even dad was into it!
Grammie got the kids tickets for the pony ride too! Bryce was more excited about riding a horse than I've ever seen him before. He kept saying he wanted to ride "the biggest one!"...and that is EXACTLY what he did!
He couldn't have been happier. He thanked the pony when the ride was over, and then wanted to climb back up and go again. Um-we were ready to move on. It was 100 degrees out there and we weren't being fanned by a pony ride! :) Sorry dude.
Hollie gave the kids quarters for feed corn-they fed geese, mallards & horses-and had the time of their lives!
Bryces main objective was to once again-see a piggie. (That was his request at the last farm we visited) Mission accomplished!
But by the end of the trip-when we asked what his favorite part of the farm adventure was, he said it was "feeding the horseys" :)
He even hugged the giant horse a time or two! This little man was in heaven.
This guy decided he needed shade more than an opportunity to pet a farm animal :)
Little mother found the hand sanitizer for herself & brother before they moved on to other things. Kinda funny, but much appreciated.
Someone got hot & decided to have an attitude to match-so this shot was actually quite fitting for the moment.
Poor kid-just like his momma. Face turns BEET RED the instant he is even a smidge heated. :( It's a bummer.
The whole fam enjoyed a "tractor" ride around the facilities....not the kind of tractor ride we are used to here in farm country-you know, flat bed trailer, hay bales for seating type of thing-but still it was enjoyable. Scorching hot-but enjoyable. :)
To cool down we went inside. There was this fun little area which was made to look like a garden-complete with earthworms painted on the brown "dirt" floor! It was supposed to be a "from farm to fork" interactive display. Showed the importance of bugs in the garden, planting & harvesting plants, etc.
Tractor tire "planters" with plants sprouting or ready to be harvested. See the earthworms on the floor?
The kids picked different wooden "seed packets", "planted" them, "harvested" them, and sent them to market :)
Farmer Bryce plants some seeds...
Strange....zucchinis, peppers and onions on this tree! Definitely planted by some 3 year old. Wonder who???? ha ha ha
Conveyor belt taking the wooden "food" to the store....
A breakdown....no worries-Bryce will fix it! We LOVE trips to Thanksgiving Point! Thanks for the entertaining afternoon Grammie & Grandpa!
