Annual Ward Patriotic Breakfast/Parade

We go with my dad every year to his wards family breakfast celebrating the 4th of July. The kids all ride their bikes around the block "parade style" and the parents/families root them on. It's pretty entertaining. Last year the kids rode their Power Wheels mini quads-this year, we brought their real bikes!
This chicadee is ready to rock & roll!
Heading to breakfast. They close off an entire street in the middle of the neighborhood & line it with tables dressed in festive decor. One house is the host & has a giant entertaining tent, tables of food & monster grill set up in their driveway! It is amazing how quickly this all gets set up when you have a billion Mormons involved! lol :) We witnessed it all first hand because Dad had to be there early since he was in charge of the opening stuff (prayer, military tribute, etc.)
Sweet Em & her soldier Grandpa saying the Pledge of Allegiance :)
Dad asked for all veterans present to come forward & be acknowledged...they even had WW2 Vets represented. It was really nice to be able to pay tribute in this way. Dad gave the opening prayer-with a little patriotism thrown in to his offering :) Then it was time to EAT!

BEST ward breakfast I have EVER had! Seriously....crunchy buttered rim pancakes & mouth watering sausage. Dad & I both looked at each other and said "where did they get this sausage?" lol. Dad was still talking about finding out where to purchase some later on in the evening! :) Just take my word for it-it was good.

Dad sportin the new Military Oakleys we all got him for Fathers Day! Pretty sweet. LOVE EM!

Kids are totally ready to participate in the kids bike parade...especially since it is escorted by a motorcycle cop!

tongue out for full concentration...

emma loved/was slightly embarrassed by our hootin' & hollerin' & rootin her on as she passed us :)

a happy camper if ever I've seen one...

hot & sweaty and it's only 9am! Mike being the excellent Dadda that he is, walked Bryce's bike back around the neighborhood & carried the tuckered out Mr. B the last leg of the parade....

Nothin like a cool down from the good ol' Cottonwood Heights Fire Dept....

She thought this was FANTASTIC!!!

I'd say it was an excellent morning!
