First on the list was having EmmaLee deliver her Fundraiser Flags (bright & early) to various friends who supported her. She couldn't have been prouder to place flags at each home. Dad pounded in the rebar and she was quick to proclaim each time-"Ok Dad-now it's my turn! Watch out please!"
Her job was to place the flag pole over the grounded rebar & make sure the flag never touched the ground. She did awesome! The flags went up on Friday morning and will stay up over rodeo weekend, then we'll pick them up at sundown on Labor Day evening. She gets to do this 5 times a year. It's a great experience for her and a beautiful visual tribute to our everyday heroes.
With all the goings on for the Rodeo parade, we've been up to our eyeballs in things to finish around here. Luckily Mike's parents came to assist! Thank heaven. They arrived early Friday evening and went straight to work keeping the kids busy with fun bubble wands that Grandma brought-allowing me time to finish up a few last minute parade float items. Check out some of the other fun treasures they got from Grandma too:
for Bryce's pirate room...
and
Em is SO excited about these! She keeps running around the house with it claiming we are going camping????? Sorry-no more this season.
Saturday morning, Mike & I ran to check in for the parade, then picked up our traditional parade day McDonalds breakfast-which didn't quite work out the same this year since we weren't out "watching" the parade, but whatever. We finished being in the parade (which felt like a whole 10 minutes) and parked the car/float and ran over to meet Papa, Grandma & Bryce for the tail end of the parade. Later that afternoon, Shannon and Mr. Rod came by to take the kids to the fair! Fun for them-and we stayed back while Mike's parents helped clean up our garage (from the parade float creating mess-and in preparations for SOMETHING fun we have coming up....stay tuned).
Before leaving-they stocked our fridge & cleaned our carpets too! Pretty awesome! We are very blessed. We have a clean house & completed checklist, making us oddly calm this time of year....which is great because that rarely happens with 2 teachers and the first day of school being 3 days away. :)
Hugs to our supportive family!
