My dad came to Everett for a 24 hour trip yesterday. He was performing a vow renewal at a retirement ceremony for a fellow soldier. It took place in the hanger bay on board the USS Abraham Lincoln. Dad worked with this guy back on the USS England in San Diego about 20 years ago.
I don't remember this guy but, he apparently remembered me from when I was 8 on a dependents cruise in San Diego. Anyhow-Dad originally married he and his wife way back when on the England ship, and so now he was performing their renewal. Of course I was teary through most of it (one of the joys of life after childbirth-sentimental about EVERYTHING! lol).
Bryce could care less about the whole thing-and was more interested in the sour "snails" (gummy worms) Grandpa had bought for them. Emma did a pretty good job sitting still, watching dadda's Ipod and pretending to "spy" on Grandpa who was on the stage. :)
She also kept wanting to do the Pledge of Allegiance (due to the vast amount of US flags she saw EVERYWHERE :) It was a pretty neat ceremony. Thanks for inviting us Dad!
